Story Fest '08
was a huge success! Held on January 26th at John Marshall High School, parents and students were treated to balloon animals by Jolly Joeys Clown Alley, face painting by Marshall Arts, and storytelling by the San Antonio Storytellers Association, Xavier Garza, Ada Gonzalez, and NISD librarians Cathy Fielding, Laura Lara, and Charles Lara. A representative of the San Antonio Public Library, Maverick Branch was on hand, along with Scholastic representative Gretchen Barr, who gave away lots of free books! Also on hand were Star Wars characters and Clifford the Big Red Dog. It was a fun afternoon for all!

Mission: The Friends of NISD Libraries promotes & supports the vital role of the school library in the educational experience.

Goals & Objectives:

  • Educate the community about library services that impact reading, critical thinking, and lifelong learning essential to a democratic society.
  • Support activities of the NISD libraries.
  • Advocate for school libraries at all levels (campus, district, city, state, nation).

Membership is free for NISD students. Other membership levels are: Individual $5, Family $10, Contributing $50, Patron $100, and Lifetime $250.
